Weather delay problem
Just bought this a few days ago. When I setup weather at an airport thru AS and then I go to the airport it takes maybe 5-10 seconds of flying before the weather kicks in. Before that it's blue sky. I tried in a few different airports. To see what would happen I put in the insim Jepperson real weather and that kicks in right away. So it seems there's some problem with communication. I have the latest fsuipc registered. I also have an AS 6.5 patch installed.
Also questions.
1. I have ASG on auto-submit. I assume this means that the graphics will go to the sim automatically every time along with the wx?
2. How does the wx graphics work? How does this change what it looks like in the sim? For example, if it's overcast, it puts in darker cumulus clouds and if it's broken it puts in lighter cumulus clouds?
3. How does the visibility option in the sim work? Is this how far you can see details? If this is enabled and I have distance enabled in fsuipc, does that conflict? If I have it disabled in AS, will the distance in fsuipc still work?
Specs:
Dual core duo 2.8 gig
4 gig ram
geforce 9800GT 1 gig
windows 7x64, FS9 and AS not installed under program files
Thanks,
Rich
More testing. It seems there
More testing. It seems there is about a 30 second delay before the graphics (clouds) appear on the screen. This is whether or not I start flying. And this is without ASG auto active so the program isn't adding graphics at this time. There's just a delay for no reason I can see.
Hi Rich, I'll take these one
Hi Rich,
I'll take these one at a time and if I forget something please ask it again.
1. The bit of delay is normal especially after FS first starts. AS need to connect to FSUIPC, send data through FSUIPC, have FS process that data, and then the graphics engine in FS must depict the weather conditions. All this takes time.
2. No, once FS is started the only texture that can be updated is the cirrus texture. Auto-submit happens when you start AS and enter a plan or a station and then textures are sent to FS, while FS is closed. Yes, that means that if you start with clear weather textures and the weather changes during your flight, the textures in FS will not change as you fly. But yes, the weather will change, just not the textures.
3. To best answer this it is better for you to open ASG and browse through the textures. Some are darker, some lighter, Some cloud edges are sharper some medium, some smooth. Haze color changes, as does the sky color.
4. No, visibility is the distance before you start to get a distant haze drawn in FS. You can either use FSUIPC or AS. But with the AS setting you cannot define certain altitudes and distances as you can with FSUIPC. Yes, disabled in AS so you can still use FSUIPC.
