ASE to FSX onscreen messages
Hi Jim,
New ASE user, love the product. Am not sure if it is working correctly though.
ASE is running in networked configuration:
Server (FSX SP2, SDK SP2): Win7/64. FSX is run in Admin mode.
Client (ASE): Win XP SP2
Startup Sequence: FSX then ASE
FSUIPC is in default settings, all weather is off.
On initial startup of ASE there are two messages in ASE Main window that say:
SImConnect SP2 Instantiated
FSX Connection Established
- this is a good thing as there is a connection, and the weather is being updated, I can confirm that.
Question. Should there be a message in FSX confirming established connection?
The messages I see in FSX are (not word for word):
1. The very first message of an ASE new session that appears in FSX is ASE Download Complete.... Why the 1st message is not confirming connection to FSX?
2. The second message always is depiction started
3. The third message is always DWC depiction started.
4. The forth message says that download was completed.
5....no more message...I can be on KORD to KLAX flight and see no more messages in FSX while ASE is full of them in its Main window...:)
Question. Are there any other messages that are missing, is there a sequence of events in ASE that should be confirmed in FSX with a message, what is the sequence? This informaion would help to determine if users have a good connection and if ASE/FSX work/communicate properly together, IMHO.
What made me ask the question, and wonder if all was OK.
1. Lack of any message in FSX whatsoever when I press Refresh button in ASE. The message in ASE says Manual Wx Refresh Requested. At the bottom of ASE is says Download Active, Synthesis Active, but there are no messages in FSX to confirm any of these manual refresh actions until the very end, when a message does appear indicating that the update was completed.
2. I set the Automatic Downloads to every 5 minutes/Automatic Downloads to see what would happen. I do not see any messages at all in FSX evey 5 minutes. There are no messages to confirm a new update was received and sent to FSX. At this point I can only see some messages on start up of ASE and manual refresh.
The point is it would seem that some messages in FSX are missing, or not presented in order of events that are taking place in ASE. This would lead me to believe that while there are weather updates from ASE to FSX, they may not be complete, consistent and/or accurate?
Thanks in advance for your comment.
Jim...Build 572, Show in-sim
Jim...Build 572, Show in-sim text messages is on. I understand that there is no need for a message for every event that takes place in ASE but why is there no connection message, and others as I listed that would be of help to establish if ASE is connected, and running properly?
Hi, You should get a
Hi,
You should get a connection message on initial start and weather updates are complete. ASE will show if any problems arise after that. Most users already believe we are sending too many messages right now, so I don't thing we are going to add any more in the future.

Hi,
Is ASE Build 572?
Is Show In Sim Text messages on in ASE?
Either way ASE is not going to send every single message that you see on its main page to FS. There are only going to be certain messages sent.
