DWC and landing runway assignment by any ATC addon
Hi,
I currently use ASX in FSX and I use PMDG 747 airplane.
I would like to buy ASE, but I need to figure out if ASE will work for me.
I use ATC add-ons: PFE and Radar Contact. Both are great programs.
However, if I understand correctly from reading this forum, there is no way currently to use both DWC turned ON in ASE and any ATC program, because ATC will assign a wrong runway for landing at the destination airport.
The only solution at this moment is to turn off DWC and to use registered FSUIPC for wind smoothing.
Buying FSUIPC just for wind smoothing is not an option for me. This way, I can say that upgrading to ASE will cost me 80 dollars instead of 50. Sorry, but it's too expansive.
However, I can't use PMDG 747 without wind smoothing...
Could someone please confirm this situation or let me know if there is another workaround.
Thanks,
Dmitry.
There is no workaround.. The
There is no workaround.. The only way I have found to get DWC to work properly is to disable FSUIPC entirely. If you have other programs that rely on FSUIPC they will no longer work so that isnt really an option for anyone. I also use PFE and have noticed I will often get assigned a different runway to land on, sometimes the direct opposite, from the AI. With FSUPIC disabled everything works much better for some reason. If this is possible for you then try it. Also if you turn off DWC your weather depiction will be very inaccurate. Really all these problems are up to HIFI to solve. The question is will they fix ASE or just plug us another AS program in a few months that doesnt work either...
Too bad... Radar Contact
Too bad...
Radar Contact definitely needs FSUIPC. I think PFE also needs it.
So, in other words, ASE can't be used with any ATC without purchasing FSUIPC. Too bad...
Hi, No, that is not true. For
Hi,
No, that is not true. For ATC programs that pull data directly from FSX you need to use ASE without DWC On.
Now, to have hyper-sensitive winds planes work you can follow some of the suggestions we have researched and put together in the Readme file in the ASE folder. Only one of the suggestions is purchasing FSUIPC.
Finally, the free version of FSUIPC will work just fine, so you can still use all your other programs that use this utility.

Jim,
Is one of the suggestions that you mentioned to turn off the turbulence effect?
Is there any other options? I have Ezdok camera addon and I like the turbulence effect...
Thanks,
Dmitry.

Hi,
Not off, but just turing it down.

Thank you, Jim!
Is it possible to read that Readme file before purchasing ASE?
Or may be you can just copy those suggestions here, so I can see if they are going to work for me...
Also, as I can see from the first reply on my question as well as from the other topics in this forum, that turning DWC off creates some other critical problems? Is it true?
Thanks again,
Dmitry.
Hi, No, becuase you are not
Hi,
No, becuase you are not going to be able to tell if the suggestions work because you won't be using a weather program.
There are going to be some trade-offs when using ATC programs that pull their data directly from FSX if you have DWC turned On.

And if you turn off DWC you
And if you turn off DWC you will get incorrectly depicted weather. A lose/lose situation either way. My suggestion is that anyone who owns REX2 should use that weather program with FSUIPC to smooth winds. I also have the same problem as the OP, spending another 35 American on FSUIPC just to smooth the wind is a total joke, though I might just have to break down and buy it. If I do I surely wont be using ASE anymore since I wil have to turn of DWC and that pretty much breaks ASE depiction wise. This will be my last HiFi purchase if some definitive solution is not given soon, and not just some lame workaround like turning off turbulence, an important and challenging element in flying. For now, disable turbulence and request the proper runway from RC4 or PFE, whichever ATC program you use.
