Active Sky v6.5 & Active Sky Graphics
Previous Legacy Product!
From high-quality cloud and sky graphics to real-time weather condition transition and depiction, this is a complete and robust system that provides the highest level of realism possible through all facets of weather simulation. ActiveSky is designed, built, tested and maintained by an assortment of real-world pilots, experienced simulator enthusiasts and meteorological experts.
Note that due to technology differences, ASG and AR (the graphics and radar components) are compatible only with FS9.
Our latest release of ActiveSky 6.5 includes more exciting new features and refinements to enhance your weather and sky simulation experience...
Note that ActiveSky Graphics Requires Microsoft .NET Framework v1.1 for new enhanced interface/texture generation technology. Most XP users have this already via Windows Update. To install it, visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com.
ActiveSky Graphics (included) is a brand new sky graphics upgrade enhancement with a variety of brand new content in Cloud and Sky Color textures. A newly designed user interface takes advantage of advanced image generation routines, offering over 500,000 cloud texture possibilities and better-looking depiction in a wider range of flight conditions. The new interface includes easy theme category selection, thumb-nail browsing, advanced selection details configuration and more. ActiveSky Graphics replaces Active Environment and is configurable for use with a variety of other 3rd-party graphics add-ons. Note that due to technology differences, ASG is compatible only with FS9.
Enhanced Weather-Influenced Graphics Selections are available via the new IGS (Intelligent Graphics Selection) system integrated with ActiveSky Graphics. More realistic conditional selection processes are based on air stability, visibility, surface wind, and aloft wind conditions. Everything has been fine-tuned to provide better visuals in realistic real-time (or offline) weather depiction.
New FS wx-station insertion capability adds over 500 new virtual oceanic/rural wx stations to "bridge the gap" and provide more consistent depiction and better transitions in all areas, especially oceanic. Various other enhancements to oceanic and high-altitude flight transitions and realism have been made to ensure the best possible experience in a variety of different aircraft.
The new Wx-Finder interface makes it easy to find any kind of weather you're looking for, with easy quick-find buttons, advanced search parameters, and ICAO prefix filtering.
At the heart of ASv6.5 is the weather engine itself, which uses advanced intelligence and logic routines to obtain weather data and synthesize it into a beautiful and realistic depiction within the flight simulator. Our engine is designed exclusively for use with FS2004, utilizing station-based distant weather depiction and transition capability instead of limiting depictions to a single GLOBAL area. Because of this, ASv6.5 is not compatible with previous FS versions.
ASv6.5's weather engine utilizes our proprietary weather collection and distribution network (The HiFi DataNet) to provide the most complete coverage and up-to-date real-world information possible. Want to fly with the latest real-time weather data? Not a problem - just enable ONLINE mode. Would you rather fly in that big storm that happened last week? Also not a problem. Real-time or archived data is easily accessible with a few mouse clicks. ASv6.5 also supports Offline Sequential Playback, so you can download a certain time range starting at a specified historical date/time, and have the weather simulated dynamically from that date/time forward. If you'd rather specify your own conditions (or modify the existing ones), the Wx Configurator interface makes setting global, local, or regional weather a snap!
Realistic weather data access and representation isn't the only benefit... we've only just scratched the surface! Care for some realistic atmospheric effects such as updrafts and downdrafts effected by terrain and wind, vertical air currents, thermals, wake turbulence, fog layers or icing in clouds? All this and more is included with configurable options.
Do you enjoy realistically planning your flights by researching the weather and applying it to your flight plan? ASv6.5 makes this easy by providing real-time METAR/TAF/Aloft information, decoded weather display, custom station weather fetches, and a handy Weather Plan / Navigation Log interface. No more flying "in the dark"!
