ASA & FSX visibility suggestion

Hi Folks,

It is a well known fact that the visibility issues that many folks are experiencing out there is basically an FSX issue that HiFi cannot do much about. Many of them complain that as they climb out of the visibility layer, everything clears up and they can see the ground clearly below them, well this is because FSX has coded it to be this way. But in reality, you need to be able to see the visibility layer from above and not be able to see the airport. What I suggest, and I have tried is, HiFi can create a code in such a way that Overcast stratus clouds are displayed at exactly the same altitude and thickness at which the visibility layer also appears according to the METAR. This would cause the overcast stratus clouds and the visibility layer to merge, thereby, creating the user to think that he is actually flying into the visibility layer. Once the user climbs above it, the visibility layer would clear up, but the overcast stratus clouds would not, and again, this would cause the user to think that the visibility layer is still there, and moreover, he wouldn't be able to see the airport below either. In real life, it is unrealistic, visibility restriction is actually caused by fog or haze. But there is no way to depict this in FSX (Default FSX haze layer is very ugly, so rule it out). So, I suggest that Hifi come up with some kind of code that forces overcast STRATUS clouds to appear wherever there is a visibility of 1 mile or less. In case of 5 or 7 mile visibility you could use stratus clouds with a coverage of 5/8 or 4/8. I'll leave this to Hifi to figure out. Let me know what you guys think.

Ashwath.

I agree with this topic

Sorry for my Franglais ...

I agree with this topic. The Stratus is a real problem. We can solve this problem using FSX weather and 'adding opaque layer. But not in ASA (additional layer).
Another comment on the whole FSX / ASA installs a density too low clouds from the METAR reports. Is it possible to amplify the cloud cover (FEW = 2-3/8 SCT= 5-6 / 8 ...)
Thank's

I hope somebody would think

I hope somebody would think about solving this problem. It's so unrealistic to see everything on the ground and the next moment nothing at all. Actually I'd say this is a huge bug! Why would anybody want this functionality... at all?
