ASA + X Graphics

I'm using ASA/XG with FSX (SP2). Just so I'm clear, should this be the normal startup process?
1. Start ASA
2. Import Flight Plan
3. Download Snapshot
4. Start FSX
Also, how does ASA know which snapshot to pick when doing the download?
