Problems with ASA

Hi,
i upgraded from ASX to ASA, but i am not satisfied at all. What is happening is,
that when I fly PMDG 747 (maybe it happens with other aircraft, i havent tried yet) after a period of time, parts of aircraft model dissapears (i ll try to post a screenshot) - wing views, virtual cockpit parts even the exterior model (only a part of vertical stabilizer was visible from the whole aircraft).. This problem must be connected somehow with ASA (cloud textures?), when i used ASX it never happend, i saw this problem only with ASA running..
Well, whole FS X is running a little bit strange with ASA, when i got this visual problem and switch to desktop by ALT-TAB and returned to FS X, the whole FSX was completely broken (screen flickering so i wasnt able to get even to the menu etc).. i had to shut FSX down with process manager.

Second problem i had is that i get a really stupid kind of wind shifts or turbulences maybe (i wasnt able to recognize what was the problem), wind was steady at approx 45 KTS (at level flight, 330) but the plane (PMDG747) was banking left and right (excessive banks)-seemed that the plane was drifted by the wind or whatsoever, when i disconected A/P and left control stick in neutral position, plane started to bank a lot to the right. This situation stopped when i shut-down ASA.. ??Any clues ?And when i returned to FSX after quitting ASA, screen was flickering again so i had to quit FSX as well.. Strange behavior i never experienced before.

And third thing as i am writing :-) how the hell get the "overcast" or fog conditions at destination to be visible from distance????I saw some screenshots from users that they have perfect overcast layer (and fog below) in the distance as it should look (when FG or bad visibility is reported at specified airport).. but i have something like CAVOK or just a few clouds, airport perfecly visible and when i get closer, suddenly a layer appears.. extremely unrealistic but i saw it working so what i am doing wrong?? ofcourse using online weather, at least 7 layers as minimum, fog simulation checked, enhanced route coverage, flight plan loaded etc.. but nothing...

Thank you,
Jan

Hi, 1. System specs? Also run

Hi,

1. System specs? Also run FSX in Windowed Mode if you are going to keep switching in and out of FSX. That is a known FSX issue.

2. At the bottom of the Revisions text file there are some suggestions for calming this down a bit. It is a known issue with some 3rd party planes.

3. If it is low visibility being reported, then you need to be flying under the visibility layer altitude in FS. If your altitude is above the limit then the visibility layerwill go away.

Hi, thanks for fast

Hi, thanks for fast answer..

at first, I just tried today a few things..
I confirm that the problem with textures occur only with ASA. I flew today with PMDG MD11.. at first, there was an AI Aircraft, suddenly it dissapeared and only one engine of AI acft was visible and taxing :-) quite funny view.. after takeoff a lot of ground textures were missing (flat squares), after that something went completely wrong with the MD11 (after wind drifts).. EGT limits were in red, i get excessive engine compressor (N1) torques.. i have never seen this before (ofcourse I had no faults enabled).. Finally, the aircraft model dissapeared (only passenger seats were visible from outside).. when I switched to desktop to set something in Radar Contact and than back to FS X..as i described before.. flickering screen and no chance to continue flying..i had to close FSX with CTRL ALT DEL..
SO I TRIED SAME FLIGHT WITH ASX i used before, and ???... everything perfect, not a single problem..
Is there a different engine used for rendering in ASA ?I have no idea where the problem can be.. there must be something really different in the texturing what you should know.. (compared ASA and ASX)
Specs : Win VISTA, latest FSUIPC (registered), FSX SP2, ASA latest release..AMD X2, 4GB RAM, nVidia 9800 GX2..

Ad. 2 and 3.. thanks for answer, will try..

Hi, Vista 32 bit or 64 bit?

Hi,

Vista 32 bit or 64 bit? AMD X2 can be many things.

ASA is heavier on system resources and your FSX is running out of those resources. That is why those textures are dropping out. Try with a default plane. Try with RC not running. Try with nothing else FS related running. Try locking your FPS in FSX to 20.

Thanks!

Hi again, Win Vista 32bit

Hi again,

Win Vista 32bit Home Premium, Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6400+.

Hm, do you have any idea how to check available resources when FSX running? Any program logger ?
Or do you have any similar reports from other users concerning this specific problem ? Maybe more RAM memory should be installed..

Will try as you suggested..i will let you know.

Hi, 32 Bit operating systems

Hi,

32 Bit operating systems only recognize 3GB memory so 1GB of yours is not even being used.

You can try the 3GB switch. Plenty of info if you use Google.

Task Manager will show you that.

No other reports of this, but just in general FSX and add-ons use up system resources. More RAM will not even be recognized by your os.

Thanks,

Thank you for support, you

Thank you for support, you was right, i tried yesterday flight with default 737 and ASA only. It worked with no errors.. I will experiment with this a little bit. Anyway thanks.
